I am the manager of the Montessori Institute of Mwanza and I welcome you on our website.

For many years nuns from the Swiss convent of the Baldegger Sisters have been working in Tanzania as teachers and nurses. In Dar es Salaam we founded a nursery schools as well as a training center for nursery teacher, in which the children were taught according to Maria Montessori's philosophy. The Tanzanian government was impressed and appreciated our work that much, that we were asked to build other schools in the country.

In the year 1998 I started building a school in Mwanza, a town at the border of Lake Victoria. Over the years we expanded and our Institute consists today of a multitude of different schools and a training center. On this website you will find a lot of information about our Institute, our philosophy, the different schools and the training center. I hope you enjoy it.
