History of our Training center

To ensure highly qualified teaching lessons based on the philosophy of Maria Montessori, the Montessori Training Association of Tanzania (MTAT) started an inquiry to train teachers.

There is a lack of qualified teachers in Tanzania as the government started to build a lot of new primary and secondary schools without increasing the number of teachers training center at the same time. So our Insitute was really forced to educate its own teachers.

In July 2007 , the first course of the Montessori Teachers Trainig Center started. Students who successfully complete all the parts of the examination will get the Monetssori certificate. After two years of teaching they will get the MTAT-Diploma, which is acknowledged by the Tanzanian government.

The students are taught in subjects as Montessori philosophy, Montessori Theory, Paedagogics, general knowledge, as well as common subjects as Maths, Geography etc. They also learn in our own workshop how to produce their own Montessori teaching materials.

Impressed by the success of our Training Center and by the capability of our teachers, the Tanzanian government asked us to offer a regular teachers training course as well. In the Summer 2007 we also started to educate teachers for governmental schools according to the governmental syllabus.

We had to build a second teaching hall and a hostel, which is in order to guarantee safety for the female students absolutely necessary.
